Project - 17th Century Grade 11 Listed Kitchen Conversion (East Yorkshire)
Create a new kitchen as part of a conversion of a commercial property into a beautiful family home.
The design process
The siting of the kitchen changed several times during the early stages of the planned conversion. Ultimately, it was decided that the kitchen should sit within the structure of the historic building, opening out into the light filled atrium.
The contrast between the old and the new parts of the building had to be carefully managed. The kitchen needed to act as the heart of the home.
The finished look
A bank of tall housings and appliances in hi-gloss white were matched up with a really striking wall hung run of book matched oak veneer cabinets. The Corian clad island in the middle provides a focal point, as well as an informal dining spot.
